How the project started
Mac Cleaner Pro launched in 2022 from a private utility two of the engineers wrote for their own MacBooks. Friends asked for a copy; the copy turned into a public release; the public release turned into the project running today. Two years later the team is five people working full-time on the cleaner — with the Windows build added in late 2024 and now powering the same charter on PC.
What we will not do
No premium tier. No usage telemetry. No bundled toolbars. No nag screens. The full feature set ships in every release, signed and reproducible from source. The Privacy Report inside the app verifies the no-telemetry promise in real time and you can read the network log yourself.
Privacy and safety
Every removal path goes through a read-only scan first; the actual cleanup is reversible from an undo log retained for thirty days. We err on the side of safety — files macOS or Windows might regenerate are flagged; files that look like user data are never touched.
Funding
Sponsorships from a handful of companies that use the app internally cover the team. No user money is involved, ever — no donations, no subscriptions, no premium upgrade button hidden under a menu.
